Buying Electric bikes
At the Pedal Shed we make an attempt to listen to our clients even if it means getting out of our comfort zones and yes, the e-bike idea is one of those. After a request from one of our clients we embarked on a journey gathering a better understanding about the value, benefits and pitfalls of e-bikes. We discovered that e-bikes provides a great opportunity for people over the age of 60 to get healthy and have an active lifestyle well into their 90s.
 We started off with our conventional providers Apollo and GT and also discovered suppliers that focus on e-bikes only in Ride Electric and Rilu trading. The latter are suppliers with proper workshop capabilities and facilities as well in house technical support we need as well as a full 2 year warranty. The range consists of everyday commuters, rail trail bikes to more serious bike packing and off road full suspension. We have sufficient stock on our floor with 2 demo bikes that can be booked out for a day to test ride.

Rilu E bikes

We formed an association with Rilu just before Covid with the purpose to provide general purpose and Rail Trial bikes. We were looking for durable bikes, at reasonable prices but with the ability to upgrade and customize. Rilu has the design and technical understanding to do just that resulting in one of the most popular brands in our area.

Smartmotion

We were still looking got a mid-drive package that can give our clients a bigger range and go off road as well as mountain bike riding. The team from Ride Electric introduced us to their fleet of mid drive bikes designed for just that purpose. Smartmotion is an New Zealand brand that started out in 2012 designing and developing e-bikes for the postal service of New Zealand. The characteristics of a durable, strong bike is visible in all their products. With a well established wholesale workshop in Australia they offer bikes and support of a high standard.
